Test before you undress

I would like to take about Sexually transmitted infections (STIs), chlamydia and gonorrhea.  Did you know that they are the two most commonly reported communicable diseases?  Scary part is most of these infections have minimal to no symptoms at all.  My previous experience with infertility was eye opening to the number of infertility with history or STIs.  Other effects of untreated STIs can cause complications of pregnancy, chronic pain and pelvic inflammatory disease.  This is what brings me to encourage every patient that is sexually active to consider STI testing.  I always recommend STI testing with EVERY change in sexual partners.  Yes that means if you had 3 in one month that I would want you to come into the office for testing all 3 times… 5 partner… 5 times, you get the idea
