Can I Get Botox® and Fillers at the Same Time?

Can I Get Botox® and Fillers at the Same Time?

Cosmetic injectable treatments are far and away the most commonly performed medical aesthetic procedures in the United States. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported that in 2024, almost 10 million botulinum type A neuromodulator procedures (including Botox®) were performed, along with over 9 million procedures using dermal fillers and other augmentation materials.

At ThriveOB and Women's Wellness in Barrington, Illinois, we offer both Botox and dermal fillers to help our patients turn back the clock on their appearance. If you’re wondering if you can get Botox and fillers in a single session, here’s great news: you absolutely can!

Each product works differently and targets a different type of line or wrinkle. There’s nothing incompatible about the treatments, and given how each product works, you can leave your appointment with visible improvements that continue to improve over the coming weeks.

How Botox works

Botox is an active medication, a neuromodulator that changes how your nerves work. In cosmetic applications, Botox calms contractions in dynamic expression muscles by forcing them to relax.

Over time, some expression muscles take on a semi-permanent contracted condition, making you look frowning or stern even when you’re not. Crow’s feet beside your eyes can also contract, making smile creases deeper than they’d be if they relaxed completely.

Strategic injections of Botox relax the expression lines beside and between your eyes, as well as on your forehead, as the medication takes effect in the days and weeks after your treatment. While results vary by patient, you can expect months of consistent results.

Dermal filler applications

As the name suggests, fillers are passive. They simply take up space, often due to age-related collagen loss and increased skin laxity.

While fillers are made from a variety of biocompatible substances, synthetic hyaluronic acid (HA) is a standard base. Your body is full of HA, so it’s not an irritant, and it metabolizes well at the end of its useful life.

When formulated into filler gels, HA becomes an injectable stand-in for lost tissue. We use it to fill voids that cause lines and static wrinkles, as well as areas like the lips and cheeks, where volume loss can be noticeable, affecting your face shape and creating an older appearance.

Botox and Juvéderm

There are many injectable products on the market today. Dr. Jennifer Moreira chooses Botox Cosmetic and the Juvéderm® line of HA fillers for their safety and reliability, ensuring predictable results.

Botox and fillers often make a perfect combination to achieve your aesthetic goals. Contact ThriveOB and Women's Wellness by calling our appointment line at 847-868-2908 to book your injectable treatment session today.
